Conquering your fears

I wear contacs now and only snorkel but my first mask (and believe me I’m pretty blind) had my prescription lenses in them–they took the lens and basically glued them into my mask. Worked great! My H wears his contacts all the time and doesn’t seem to have any trouble.

H owns a ‘gauge reader’ mask that he wears with his contacts so he can read his dive computers.

Deb, I just went back and reread your first post. I should mention that I didn’t learn to snorkel until AFTER I learned to dive.

And frankly, your family sounds annoying: “do it this way, not that way!” They are not you.

If you’re going to a dive location and they’re going diving, quietly make arrangements to do a preliminary dive in the pool while they’re off diving. That way, your fears and complications are your business and not theirs.

This is something you want to do for yourself, not for them. That means you get to do it your way.

No family that wants you to join in their fun can be labeled annoying! But yeah, do it on your terms.
