I had my patch testing done this spring. The patches themselves are very small. But when you get 80 of them on your back - they cover a lot of area! I’m also severely allergic to two things and ended up with what looked like burns on those spots. So even after the patches were removed at 48 hours, I was still uncomfortable. After a week I was able to start applying steroid cream, and those spots then cleared up. Good luck with the testing!
After my patch testing, we still do not know what caused my facial rash and swelling; I reacted to nothing on the test! As the oral and topical steroids cleared my face, along with a change of face wash and lack of make-up, I may never know what the problem was. It is possible it was an exposure to something unknow, so I am still in the wait and see phase. I had one very small amount of swelling Thanksgiving weekend, but with some topical steroid cream, it was clear in less than 2 days.
I now am just dealing with what might be considered dry skin on my face. I don’t know if it was the swelling, rash or steroids that made my skin feel this way, or if I have eczema, so trying to figure out what cream/lotion is the best to hydrate. I have been using Vaseline when I can; not sure it helps much, but it doesn’t hurt. Some days my forehead will feel like it is a bit sunburned even though it looks normal.
This have been an odd issue that I hope I don’t have to deal with again!
