Cookware Foe A New Couple

The thing about “sets” is that there is not just one company that makes the perfect choice for every task. Cast iron works fantastically for some applications, copper for other applications, and an inexpensive non stick pan frequently works better for some other applications. I would try to find out what they need and get them one or two specialty items from a vendor like Sur La Table. Like an enameled cast iron Dutch oven from Le Creuset and an old fashioned cast iron pan from Lodge Pole?

edit: just realized the @lakewashington posted almost exactly the same thing!

The reason I don’t like Farberware or Revereware ( both of which I have owned ) is that they are not oven proof. If It can’t take high heat , it’s no use to me ( and that includes the lids too )

Even Le Creuset regular handles can’t take hear over 375 degrees , but they do sell steel replacements that care easy to switch.

The colors are hard to choose from , but I went for the original color because it was on sale at an outlet. I make crusty bread , among other things in it. It’s amazing what the right kitchen tools / gadgets can do for your food

I’m not big on sets either. I have a 12 inch All Clad stainless fry pan that I adore (sale at BBB and coupon brought it down in price), a small non stick frypan and a couple pots (both stick and non stick). It’s like one piece out of several sets. Although things are much cheaper in sets. And then you need space to store them.
I’m in love with my Kitchenaid mixer.
For 500 bucks I’d get them the mixer (if they don’t already have one but let them choose the color), some attachments maybe and a nice dutch oven.

I didn’t get my Kitchenaid mixer neil two years ago. I didn’t know what I was missing either !
