“dual core Turion, ships in May”

Yea but it won’t be cheap.

Also, does anyone know sites that actually show what a core duo or pentium m really is(in terms of a Pentium 4, etc.) Like a Core Duo 2.0 GHz is what on a Pentium 4? I’ve found reviews and stuff, but not an actual conversion chart.

u cant just convert to actual benchmarks cuz u have to consider different mainboards

i think for the same price notebook, dual core will beat out any single core

oh pah, if you’ve got two AOpen or MSI or whatever boards, they’ll be pretty much close enough to compare.

Even with different boards, if theres a large margin, its not like the board will impede it too much, only on overclock.

yay for 2000!

btw, i was GOING to wait for the AMD Turion 64 X2 (dual core) in may, but as the saying goes:

Desktop = AMD
Laptop = Intel

and a reply i got from another forum:

That’s because Intel already has a very fast chip with the Core Duo. The 65nm process is also one of the main reasons why Core Duo notebooks get such great battery life, and Turion X2 will still be 90nm. Considering the original 90nm Turion wasn’t really all that good power consumption-wise when compared with the 90nm Pentium M, I doubt the 90nm Turion X2 is gonna fare well against the 65nm Core Duo.

so just go w/ core duo. (or wait until september for Merom?)

Well intel just announced that it’d be out earlier than that maybe! June or July for Merom, maybe I’ll wait…
