None of the possible influences or factors are mutually exclusive but all things being equal the statistics suggest a meaningful benefit to attending 1 of 11 schools. Specific to Cornell Law, attending Cornell undergraduate is demonstrably the most frequent and time tested path by a huge margin.
Additionally, attending an elite school like Cornell will provide greater optionality if the student’s ambitions change. Cornell is a target school for both IB and Management consulting which are frequent “fall backs” for former law aspirants. Richmond is a great school but does not have the target status, alumni network or global reputation of Cornell.
