Cornell Architecture

well…your dad has a good point. a lot of people dont’ make it because of these factors…architecture is like this in reality. of course in the long run, you do what you enjoy doing and that’s what is most important. i guess just make sure that you can’t do anything else BUT architecture because that’s where the lure is for other drop outs…to go somewhere else where you won’t have to work as much and will be paid a lot more for. the only factor that keeps people in this field is if they absolutely love it.

i think your dad worries about your financial status in the future because of the low pay, lack of satisfaction in the field but in the long run when you’re old…you’ll be looking back at your years and see what YOU have done in the past. for me, i think creating spaces for people is far more rewarding than simply becoming say…a financial advisor despite the fact that financial advisors earn three times more than architects.

i also plan on getting a mba after a b.arch. though architecture is my passion, I think a mba will be a nice safety net for me.

cornell will definitely give you a lot of jobs too. not necessarily higher pay but a lot more connections. if architecture is for you, you’re surely aiming at the right track because cornell will you give you networks and a good education. aim for the best!
