I would suggest for you to wait until after the holidays before emailing the AOs. A good way of reaching out to the AOs is also to have your GC to call email on your behalf. A GC may be able to get a more honest answer. Sometimes an applicant is deferred because the adcom wants additional information, like how you are doing senior year.

I would send in additional information in Feb or after you get your 1st semester/midterm grades. Hopefully they are good (better, upward swing). Write a one page continued interest of Cornell, 1-2 additional LORs, additional awards.

When writing the continued interest try to focus on what you could do for Cornell, not what Cornell could do for you (they already know what they could do for you).

You all will end up at the right place. My kid was deferred and then rejected from her ā€œdream school,ā€ and ended up at a great school.

Dumb question here: Who should I email my letter of continued interest to? I plan on emailing them after holiday break. Should I send it to one of the emails in link below for my region?

I have a new rec letter I want to send it. Where do I tell my teacher to send it to/through?

My daughter is applying RD to Cornell. Her SAT score reports were sent by the College Board to Cornell, the first one in September, and the second one in December. The December report contains her October SAT scores. But on her application portal, it shows that Standardized Test Scores were received in September. Does it imply that the second report hasnā€™t been received or the scores havenā€™t been updated? Does anybody else have the same problem? Thank you for your kind reply.

I know Iā€™m super late lol, I was deferred CALS as well sent in a LOCI back in February hoping for the best, deferral rate this year was pretty low so hoping that they accept alot more deferred students in RD!

Hey everyone, I was deferred Engineering and sent a LOCI at the end of January. Wishing you guys the best of luck, hopefully we can all get in!
