Cornell Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

dang this thread is making me bummed af for my decision tomorrow haha

hey whats up people, I’m a TO for CALS, when i did the pin trick, I received two emails from them, but I could not get in for some reason? So you think i’ll hear back from them tomorrow at 10 am tomorrow? I only applied for FA recently, so I can’t tell by seeing if my stuff has gone from initiated to ordered! Thanks to anyone that responds…

@whostolemycookie This may help you identify your codes. Enter ISIR Reject 15 Cornell into Google and it will give you a processing link to Cornell University pdf of Financial Aid. You will find your info on that document. I can’t seem to put the link here because it is a pdf that pops up. It is a PeopleSoft file similar to a IRS data input how to do sheet. It is how the University inputs data.

Engineering applicant here! Only seen about one or two other engineers here. Just checked financial aid and it says “Inquiry access denied” but according to older threads this doesn’t seem to have any meaning. Doing the PIN trick in a few minutes to see my fate.

Update: PIN trick failed

yah its not working for me either and i’m a TO

what if I did the pin trick and received a new pin, but I couldn’t log in. I am a TO. The pin in the email was different from the one I received last year.

pin trick matters when u got stuff in. Seems that if u had EVERYTHING in before 3/15, u will get decision tomorrow. If after, don’t fret about pin trick. they are not ready.

The financial aid portal to see what you were awarded tells nothing. You need to go to FA checklist. That will see.

For the person with the “ISIR Reject 15” or the person where parent’s forgot to sign FASFA, FA is completely different from admissions. If they show those things, that means they possibly looked at your FA profile, which they only do when you are accepted, (they would have to do 40k for all regular applications in a matter of 3 months. impossible).

But it may also be a FASFA error code that is reported to Cornell and put on your checklist. I’m almost positive that the “reject” there means nothing.

And by other years, it seems that if you get decision following day, but FA still says initiated, usually means a rejection. Whatever happens, everyone keep your heads high and stay in good spirits. Everything meant to be, something will turn up for you. College does not determine your life at all.

When does Cornell notify you with the email that your decision will be released the next day? The night before?

and to confirm, has anyone received an official email from cornell stating their decision will be tomorrow?

Hi guys new to this thread here!
I applied to COE Computer Science and submitted my application in February and tried the pin trick but doesn’t work for some reason… I had all my checklist fulfilled when I received the email that I could use my checklist.
I thought I finished the supplementary materials and submitted my application early but is not going to get my decision for some reason…

Is there any more CS majors applying to the engineering school? And if so, did the pin trick work?

Thank you for your insight, @cornellto2022

Although, I think college does determine our lives, if for at least a little bit. I would agree that it’s not the sole or even the most powerful determinant, but ignoring the enormous privilege that these schools bestow would be shortsighted.

Engineering applicant here!
I applied to Mechanical Engineering but I saw most engineering transfer applicants are CS…
The pin trick didn’t work for me.

@J2JasonW Hope you get in mate! I saw somebody who got into CS as a transfer to Cornell but he said that he was the only transfer in 2015 lol… I think it will be better for mechanical engineering students

Hi. @decisions6821 I’m a human ec TO and I didn’t use my PIN for the trick. I clicked on “forgot PIN or password” and reset my password instead of requesting a new PIN… I logged in with the new password and it said decision time is viewable at 10 am.

I do agree and I hope that your path does include one of these schools with the great opportunities that come with them :).

A good thing that people have recommended to me is going on LinkedIn or find some college graduate data. Do some searches of where graduates from your school end up getting jobs. It will truly surprise you. Big banks are the sole jobs that seriously do care about Ivy League status, and those are for a slim portion of jobs in general anyways.

Don’t be discouraged. Everyone will find their way.

@worldtravellover I am also a human ec TO! Did you log in using the new pin in the email? I reset my password and used the new pin, but it gave me:
"System Message:
Please review the details presented below for more information.

Either the PIN or password you entered is incorrect. Please try again."

Hi all, what is the PIN trick? I would like to know but I don’t feel like scrolling through a bunch of pages of treads.

No I didn’t receive a new PIN or login with a PIN. I just typed in my email address and they sent me an email saying “You are receiving this email because you have requested a password reset” and just reset my password.

Oh wait I’m sorry. The email does give me a new PIN because I noticed it’s not the same one I received when I submitted my app. I just didn’t use the PIN when I logged in. @decisions6821
