Don’t even start with that. You and tens of thousands of other very qualified students are applying to top tier schools for a few thousand places. At NONE of them are white males in the minority. At Michigan just 28% of engineering students are female and 14% POC. Georgia Tech is 60:40 M:F and 50% white, 25% asian, 10% hispanic and 8% black. Cornell is 50:50 M:F and roughly 33% white, 28% mulit/mixed, 25% asian, 10% hispanic and 3% black.
These schools are so over-blessed with qualified candidate that nobody who is admitted is less than well-qualified.
All that said, it is going to be an extra-tough admission year, because of all the various covid factors.
