Yep, everyone said this was our year but doesn’t look like for a lot of excellent applicants who may have put all their eggs in one basket. It would have been much easier if not so many schools pushed their notification dates to after new year, otherwise by now I would have at least had some options.
I also submitted my score so I hope that is meaningful. My point with the white male is that while yes a place like Cornell is 50/50 M/F (actually more female to male in engineering) there are less female applicants overall applying so they have a greater shot. There are fewer good quality URM, POC, hispanic, applicants, etc applying, but there are more white male applicants than anything else applying and most are great applicants so many applying for so few spots.
Because of quota in their other colleges, fortunately I am not applying, they will take lesser candidates than more qualified ones. Hard year for any senior no matter where they want to go. Only a few more days before this headache is over or continues.
