Cornell or Wash U St. Louis

In the 5 years that I have been following WashU, never have I seen it refer to itself as the ivy of the Midwest. Nor has my son or any of his friends who graduated from there done so (I asked him after reading your post). If someone else in a guidebook has done so, that cannot be imputed to the students or the administration of the school itself.

And what’s with the IVY league obsession? Cornell is a terrific school, but not because it’s in the Ivy League. Stanford, MIT, Chicago and many other great schools are not diminished by their being in a different sports conference.
