Also, if a school is over-enrolled/ shut for waitlist, don’t they inform students right after May 1 that they have met their enrolment quota for Fall 2018 (like engineering did last year)?
I am still waiting for CALS. Has anyone heard back from CALS? :(( Just need some closure so I can move on. If anyone is interested, I was choosing between NYU and Rochester, and I decided I’ll be attending the university of Rochester.

Go back to pages 13-14 of this thread. There were multiple people who got Spring 2019 offers. In the email, they were informed Fall 2018 was full. Adcom would try to fill their Fall 2018 class before they fill Spring 2019 spots, as Cornell is competing with schools like Duke and NU for WL students, there is no reason why they would state that in their email if they had any openings for Fall 2018. It is not logical they would wait until next week to take people off the WL for Fall 2018.
As far as informing WL students right after May 1 if they were over-enrolled, there is no such urgency for Cornell to inform the applicants. Their first priority if to fill any openings now and that’s what they are focusing on. Over the summer there may be some summer melt, which means some spots may open up if higher ranking schools should offer admission to their WL students, so it is to Cornell’s benefit to keep the WL open until June or later.
@sentap I never really wanted to go to NYU because it doesn’t have a campus, no sense of community and it’s in the city. Rochester and NYU are peer schools although NYU is more known, and Rochester has a beautiful campus and offered me a lot more money

@oldfort though I am in the same situation as everyone here, it is imperative to remember that the number of people (I believe) who would opt for Spring 19 admit would be a smaller number than those who decide to only be considered for Fall 18. Thus, it would be logistically possible to release those few spring 19 admits while Fall 18 are still being processed. Remember that last year, as far as I remember from the CC thread, spring and fall admits were both notified simultaneously around mid-May (correct me if I am wrong).

“They wouldn’t send an email about spring admission to every WL applicant. If any A&S student is interested in the spring admission why not email them now. I am sure they would rather offer it to students who want it instead doing it by trial and error. Just a thought.

Could this be the idea? Make the Spring admit cycle more successful by getting more people to want to consider it, before releasing fall? Please do realise that I am speculating as well, but circumstances here are peculiar that are forcing me to doubt fall 18 being full.
^^^No. It would not be logical. Cornell also wouldn’t lie to its applicants.

This board has very little worthwhile info. Most are trying to bounce emotions off each other. Some trying getting others off WL on to other colleges. Others are out right negative. None of you can read admission team’ s mind. Just post when you get in. My attitude: I want Cornell just as much as Cornell wants me. Have faith.

Last year, were the Spring people admitted at the same time/before/after the 2018 people for A&S??
