@sybbie719 for out of state students for the BOP program, the economic guidelines are not the same as HEOP. I have to demonstrate significant financial need which is possible as I qualify for a 50k+ grant from the college.

The Barnard Opportunity Program (BOP), specifically for out-of-state students, provides access to a Barnard education for high-achieving students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Students admitted as BOP Scholars Programs exhibit the spirit, drive, curiosity, and motivation that is characteristic of Barnard students.

Students in the Barnard Opportunity Program benefit from the same resources and opportunities as HEOP Scholars but are residents of states other than New York. Our scholars are part of a small community with extra mentorship and support to persist through the challenging and exciting transition to college, four years of growth at Barnard, and post-graduation years.

As a person who has been working with students and opportunity programs for almost 20 years (and has sent a lot of young women to HEOP at Barnard and I also attend Barnard’s HEOP day for prospective candidates annually) your parent’s combined income of $100k will not financially make you an economically disadvantaged student, which are pretty close to the same as HEOP, with the only difference being, BOP students do not reside in NYS.
