Could my guidance do this to me??

Actually its perfectly legal for the school to bar students for taking the exam for certain reasons. I mean at my previous HS people had to get written permission to take certain AP courses, because it would look bad for the school if someone did very poorly. AP exams are weird. I mean I guess your two options are drop out of the class or stay in the class. I personally would put up with the class. If you are being harassed then talk to the teacher (its probably a violation of school policy).

Well, apparently, the school’s not barring me from taking the exam because they’re suspecting that I would do poorly on it. They specifically told me that the reason is I’m dropping the class. They were like “If you never took that class, we would’ve let you take that exam.” And seriously, this is after I’ve paid for the exam and they’ve ordered them. And again, I never thought that I would get myself in trouble if I took an extra course. I always thought I could simply drop the course and everything would go smoothly (And the guidance recommended taking an extra course too back in course selection, but they never warned me that this would happen), but apparently, this isn’t the case.

And then, I was like… what’s the point? I personally think it’s rediculous to put up with a class just to write an exam that I have to pay 83 bucks for. Who would? And again, this is a course that I don’t need and really has nothing to do with what I’m going into (if I write the exam, then the credit could count towards distribution though). At least a get a considerable refund if I drop the course.

Stick in a class just to build character? Don’t I have all life to do that? Why ruin my high school experiences? I had a horrible middle school experience, and now that I actually do get to choose my courses, why should I put myself through what I was forced to go through in middle school?

And to think that these guidance people will be the ones writing references for admissions next year… wish me luck, people.

Just sort of an off-track question: If I found out about this earlier, was it legal of me to try to contact another school? Or would the other schools likely refuse just because my school refused?
