I really don’t know what to do. This is the first time I’ve cried in years. It’s just so cold… it doesn’t even say “thank you for your interest” or anything. It just says “Deny-Reviewed.” It makes you feel so bad about yourself.

Good luck you guys!!

And go IU!! Hoosiers for Life!!! (don’t hate.)

My son was deferred LAS - I expected he would be denied…so this is a victory. But he’s not really interested in going anyway now that he got into his two first choices.

I forgot to say congrats to everybody admitted
For those who got deferred there is still hope.

For those who got denied, im sure you’ll will find another school to suit you
its their loss not yours =) so them what they’re missing in your undergrad performance and they will wish that they had you

Congrats to all those who got in!
To all those who didn’t theres still a lot of time left, so keep your heads up!
And I have to agree with azzajack…make them regret not having taken you in the first place!

Yes haha that was me =[ w/e admit alternate to economics…a little disappointed i think my lack of ec’s killed me but i though 32 was good enough…anway to appeal? sorry for all of you that got denied

there is a page on their site that tells you how to appeal and such, so you should check that out. if i had gotten deffered or something, i would just send them new impressive updates on academics and activities.

I didnt even get deferred though, I just got outright rejected to business. Balh w.e is it hard to transfer into? Can i still graduate in 4 years?

you should ask people that go to UIUC. I know at the U of MN twin cities, it is hard to transfer into their business school from a different department since it is competetive. it just depends.

and also if your unweighted gpa was below 3.5, that might be a slight factor too.

Deferral: you will receive final decision in February; majority, but clearly not all, of those deferred do eventually get admitted

Applied business but got alternate economics in LAS: they have made decision not to admit you to business and thus you were not deferred as a result, but have been admitted to alternate choice economics. There is an apeal procedure but unless you can show a true mistake such as you really have a 4.0 GPA rather than the 3.5 they relied on, chances are very slim. Business is definitely a full file review process and having high stats does not automatically mean admission as essays and ECs are important and many with high stats are not admitted. You can seek to transfer to business after your first year and that is the only time you can seek such a transfer to business once at UIUC and it does not have a high admission rate for freshman trying to transfer into sophomore year.

Applied bioengineering and got alternate civil engineering: you are not still being considered for bio because decison has been made not to admit you to that program (the hardest to get into), you are admitted to civil.

Rejection: yes, the computer, which allows only the entry of a few words in the decison field is impersonal. Nevertheless, letter you will receive will not feel very personal either

Hey, I’m new to this site, so I just thought I’d post my decision/stats

Decision: Admit!

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: writing is not my strong suit haha
[] Hook (if any): not necessarily a hook i guess but my mom has stage 4 lung cancer so it acted as a huge setback sophomore year - now
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: CT
[] School Type: small public
[] Ethnicity: white/caucasian
[] Gender: female
[] Intended Major: accidentally selected general engineering but going to see if i can switch to mechanical, if not it is what it is
[li] major strength/weakness: um i don’t think i have any outstanding strengths but i’m a pretty bad writer haha[/li][/ul]Other Factors: i applied OOS but my father is moving to il back to the same town (i lived in il for 8 years) and he’s moving in feb so technically i get in state tuition the term after my parent moved for work
