One point to add to gonecokanutts comments: even if you are a science major, you may be able to use validated language classes to fulfill some slots in your course matrix. My daughter also validated four semesters of a language, and she has said that her course matrix shows the third and fourth semesters of language filling slots in later years. She was also a bit nervous about moving ahead and being too loaded, but the validations landed her in courses that were just about right for her. My suggestion would be, if the validation exams clearly place you at a certain level, take what they recommend. If your scores are borderline, you can choose to take the lower level class when you meet with your advisor.
