perhaps not, but the basis of her col is Marin County, CA.
Dh did not get his latest booster. I did.
DH came down with Covid for the first time ever, tested positive on Thanksgiving Day, though in retrospect had first symptoms on Sun., 11/19.
As of today, I have not tested positive and have had no symptoms to make me doubt the test results.
Have no idea if the booster helped, but we didn’t take any precautions of note.
Had Shingrex #2 yesterday. My body feels like I walked to the gym, did an all-body weight workout for the first time in years, and got hit by a car on the walk home.
No fever, but I was really hot last night, when I have usually been cold lately.
If this is the worst of it, it’s not as bad as some of my friends have experienced, but it’s definitely very uncomfortable.
Yes, I felt like somebody was punching me in the arm non-stop for a couple of days. Not fun, but worth it.
As uncomfortable as the Shingrix vaccination may be, believe me, it is preferable to getting shingles!! Never had the ‘pleasure’, but watching my dear wife suffer with shingles was horrible.
When my MD suggested getting vaccinated I pretty much RAN to the pharmacy and signed up.
I’m sorry you feel so bad, it was awful for me too. But it shouldn’t last much longer, and then you’re right back to normal. Veg out on the couch and watch some shows, baby yourself just a bit longer!
I went ahead and did my usual treadmill workout this morning, interval training. My “intense” intervals were less so (by deliberate choice), kept my slower intervals the same.
I actually feel quite a bit better than I did before. I won’t be surprised if I seek out a nap a little later, but overall, I feel that getting my body moving helped with the severe muscle/bone achiness I was experiencing.
Hope you both feel better. I must have no immune system! All I got was a slightly tender arm at the injection site.
A pre-Covid thread on here about Shingrex had me very worried about side effects. But having been through the various side effects of Covid vaccines Shingrex was not nearly as bad as I had feared. Aches and fatigue mostly. Before Covid, I would probably have thought it was pretty awful. Now? No big deal!
I try to move a lot, especially the shot arm, in the hour or two after a vaccine and maybe it helps. I look pretty funny as I walk around the pharmacy, I am sure. I read somewhere to raise your arm like you are sniffing your arm pit. Okay then!
H had shingles and then happily signed up to get Zostervax and later the 2 doses of Shingrex. He was mildly flu-like after each dose of vax but utterly miserable for weeks with shingles.
Perhaps the shingles and Shingrix posts can be moved to this thread?
