Nothing But Nets:

You Otterbein There!

My motto: Keep throwing **** against the wall until something sticks!

Wharfrat, you’ll be pleased to know that great minds think alike; the e-mail for Otterbein admissions is uotterb@otterbein.edu. Their coffee shop is the OtterBean, the dining hall is The Nest, and the take-out food place is The Roost. Of course, most of the students just want to know why the mascot is a cardinal instead of an otter…

Cardinal Seine!

('Cause, seine is a kind of net, and seine sounds like sin and cardinal…oh, never mind…:p)

Roshke, I think the NOsquitos is quite clever!

Actually, I brought up mosquitos when I said Muzzle the Mozzies because I read that mosquitos are referred to as Mozzies in English speaking countries outside of North America. Not sure anyone knew what I was referring to there!

Garland, that is funny!

mezzomom, I didn’t know about the dining hall being named the Nest but that kinda fits my original suggestion of Cardinals’ Nest for Nets.

I just sort of figured they had a thing for high-ranking Catholic clergy.

^^LOL! I’m sure Phillip Otterbein (lowly German Methodist whom the school is named after) is rolling in his grave at that thought!!!

Garland, I loved your idea, but I suspect I’d have to explain it to my daughter, who would then have to explain it to everyone else. More Italian students than French students in her group of friends…

I’m really glad I won’t be making the decision; there are some great ideas here.

Well, if they watch any fishing shows with seining nets…no? Yeah, i didn’t think it would fly, either.

Protecta Insecta Netta

Otterly Invincible
We Otter Be In Pictures

Update time…

I just got word from my daughter that they intend to register their “team” as insert drum roll here Otter-Be-In Nets.

We hope many contributions will be made as they all go toward nets. April 25th is National Malaria Day. The Gates Foundation has set up a matching grant.

Thanks for the update…cut name!

Ah, alas, it did not come from any CC posters though.

I dont to be a spoilsport, but I think fundraising may violate the “no solicitation” rule in the CC terms of service.

Yikes, I didn’t even think about that…I haven’t read the TOS in ages. Mods, if you need to delete my post, have at it…

oops on my post late last night…I wrote “cut name” and I meant “cute name”
