Sleepless, I, also, sent a PM.

As did I, sleepless.

PM motherofwildchild. She can give you lots of advice.

Indeed, be in touch with motherofwildchild…I will let her know to come here.

I have e-mailed motherofwildchild…she is a great resource.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I don’t have as many contacts in Boston re: young adult legal issues. I certainly can make some calls tomorrow once I get to work if you (sleepless) want to PM me with some more details.

Sleepless: whatever your connection is to this young person, we understand your profound concern. Know that amongst us all we can find the resources to help him/her be legally protected as much as possible. We are here for you if you need ongoing support…on the site or through PM. Feel free to contact any of us. Hugs…and hope that maybe you can sleep tonight. Lorelei

Thanks, lorelei, and thanks to all. Your concern and support is simply overwhelming.

We are all just a step away from similar situations, whether we know it or not. The true blessing of forums such as this one is the wealth of resources and the true caring and willingness to help each other.

sleepless I sent you a PM.

Agreed MOWC! DD has a classmate who has to wear a monitoring ankle bracelet. She is very worried that parents will judge her. I told DD to tell her that not all will. We are all just one short step from similar situations, just not all of us recognize that.

I recommend Until Proven Innocent by KC Johnson and Stuart Taylor for college students and parents as a case where three innocent students faced ten years in jail each because of prosecutors and police officers that were more concerned with their own careers than they were in justice. The amazing thing about this case was that there was no crime committed yet the three accused had to spend about a million each for their defense attorneys. The money was well spent. Getting your name cleared is never fully possible today if you happen to get snared by the criminal justice system.

It’s not really geared to compensating the innocent that have been wrongly put through the ringer.
