I think this show is depraved. I just don’t get the value of a show where the goal is to think up the most twisted, sick way to butcher people and present that as entertainment. I have to wonder about the mental health of the people who write and produce it.

D likes CSI Las Vegas (especially the personalities of the main regulars), so I watch that with her when she’s in town. She sometimes watches old episodes of CM, but I think she’s disturbed by the gore & violence and doesn’t watch or like it as much. When D’s not around, I never watch it.

I admit, I do watch the new Hawaii 50 & am fascinated by some of the novel story lines but haven’t decided how much I LOVE it; mainly I admit I watch it because it’s set in my state. Sorry to have veered off topic a bit.

While we’re OT, but still on the topic of crime shows, can I say that I think David Caruso and Emily Procter give the worst performances on television in “CSI: Miami”? I can’t bear to watch them, but dh likes the show. I can’t leave the room fast enough. Really, Caruso practically seems to be doing Kabuki with all the posing and posturing.

The much better than average (and certainly better than “CSI: Miami”) acting on “Criminal Minds” made it tough for me to stop watching the show. I have always liked Thomas Gibson, who was trained at Juilliard - he never seems to have gotten as much attention for his work as it seems to me he deserves.

Yeah, probably. It’s cartoon-ish. The squint into the sun. That whole sunglasses thing. But I will admit that I like Caruso. Or, more correctly, I like Horatio Caine. I could be friends with Caine (if he was slumming). Gibson’s character? Not so much. I can’t see us getting along.

I’m just not that “evolved”. Earlier in life I read all the Travis McGee books, too. ;)

Somehow, I don’t think the guys are all that attractive on Hawaii 50–think they have cute females tho. I guess tastes vary.

Hawaii 50 is about the ONLY thing that we watch at all on our TV. It’s fun for us to figure out where they are shooting from & see some of the other islands we rarely/never see.

Sorry, back to original topic. Will have to see what D’s TV tastes are when she comes home in December as to whether I see any more of these shows.

Pairing the discussions of bad acting and Hawaii 50, I can’t get over how bad an actor the female lead is on 50 (Kono I think can’t remember her name; the one called in on the carpet this last week). Scott Caan’s genuflections can wear on one very fast as well.

Now back to Criminal Minds, could not stand the show from my first viewing. Is it true that Mandy Patankin bowed out because he tired of the direction the show was headed?

I’m not surprised about CM. I don’t like crime shows, but my h does, and from what I’ve picked up from what he’s been watching over the years, they seem to each try to out-gross each other and their own selves, so it gets worse and worse. I don’t think h watches CM, but I’m not surprised if they’ve finally hit the ultimate in disgusting-ness.

I’m not a frequent watcher but many times I’ve had to flip channels because it’s so disturbing. I find that Law and Order SVU gets to me sometimes too, especially when it’s about kids.
