i go to the university of alabama…
well, it is a ba in musical theatre. i always considered it a “back up” but i didn’t end up getting in.
i didn’t end up really caring for the program itself. the dance training didn’t seem very intense, especially for guys, and the music portion was not taught through the school of music which was also a big turn off. the audition process was extremely unorganized and took over 8 hours. they made us sit in a room and watch everyone rehearse twice throughout the day and then eventually audition. the students didn’t seem to be the typical “musical theatre students” especially compared to other schools i auditioned for. they seemed more like people who enjoyed it in high school and wanted to continue into college, not necessarily hoping to do it as a profession.
the plus side is they highly encourage students to double major. that was one of the main reasons i looked at it.
