Maybe because they’re using that tainted peanut butter and these are smart raccoons.</p>
<p>we thought we had a mouse in our woodstove one spring…the cats were gathered around because it was obvious that there was something in there, moving around…I was a little freaked out and decided to just let it be and come fall, would burn it’s little carcass with the first fire. My husband opened up the lid and there was a bird…a good sized bird, alive and ash covered. He picked it up and took it out the door…how it ended up in there was baffling…</p>

<p>Had a large family of mice living in our outdoor bbq grill. Of course I didn’t realize this until after I lit the grill. Didn’t know mice could jump so high! Scared the beejeebers right out of me…mice flying everywhere. Probably just lost their little mice eyelashes.</p>
<p>^^^ somehow, I find a sick enjoyment in that story.</p>
<p>I have had humming birds come into the garage in the summer. I love humming birds and would be upset if I found a dead one that had struggled to get out. I caught one on the end of a broom and I think I hurt it a little ( it let out a squeek ) After last summer, I no longer leave that door open because a snake got in there…I wouldn’t use the garage for a week after that</p>

<p>We had one year where all the racoons in the area must have gathered on our roof nightly for dinner parties. H found out the hard way while cleaning out the gutters… they obviously loved berries.</p>
<p>My DH used to hate it when we found snakes, but one of my DDs caught one (not a rattler) and kept it for a few weeks :D</p>
<p>And I, too, feel sad & guilty when birds fly in and throw themselves against the uber-high windows, trying to get out</p>
<p>We had bats doing that one summer, not fun</p>
