Thinking about that , I looked up penuche fudge and saw a Martha Stewart recipe . It looked pretty simple. I might try to make it the next time I visit my mother.

Tate and Lyle golden syrup is great on toast. (I’m from England where it is pretty much a staple in everyone’s pantry). It is becoming more widely available in the US. I can even get it in the tiny British section of the little ethnic section in the grocery store in the small town where I live. It used to come in tin cans but comes in a bottle now. My Mum used to make the most wonderful ginger cake that had golden syrup in the recipe. Have tried it over here without success - not sure if it’s a difference in the flour or what
