CUNY fall 2018 acceptance

@dmyoe96

Whatever college name the hotline says is the college that accepted you. That’s how it works for transfers, at least, I don’t know how it works if you’re a Freshman.

@compsci1412 and this theory actually works, right?

Are you a transfer student or a freshman?

@dmyoe96 Yes, I transferred from York to City College before and that’s how it’s always worked. But this only applies to transfer students, I think. So let’s say you apply to these colleges in this order:

  1. Baruch
  2. City College
  3. Queens
  4. BMCC

Baruch will look at your application first. If they accept you, the rest of the schools won’t view your application at all since transfers only get admitted to one school. If Baruch doesn’t want you, City looks at you, and so on. So whatever college accepts you, is the one that’ll be named by the hotline.

@compsci1412 that’s amazing! And yes, I’m a transfer, but I just wasn’t sure about all the insides on the process. Thank you for clarifying that. According to the hotline, I got into Baruch, so for now I’m just waiting for the acceptance letter.

@dmyoe96 No problem! Congrats on your acceptance! I’m also waiting for my acceptance letter from Hunter.

So I guess that means Brooklyn accepted me! Congrats everyone on your acceptances.

@tranfers. I’m gonna be a incoming freshmen for 2018 fall. I want to ask if I’m gonna be starting with the major that appears on my portal.l, or can I switch majors?

@ellen77 Selecting your major on the portal isn’t the same as declaring your major. You’re undeclared until you fill out some paperwork at the administration building of your college to declare your major.

Well, D was able to get a username and login for MyChoice Hunter, but there is no admission letter. Just forms to fill out for prospective students. The hotline says her app is “under review”, possibly because she applied to Macaulay Hunter. The portal just says admissions decisions have been made. John Jay notified her of acceptance but nothing yet from Hunter. The waiting is very hard.

Well, my daughter got accepted to Brooklyn, City, Queens, Queensborough and John jay, but her #1 is Hunter. I just call Hunter and they said acceptance will be sent out on March !!!.. How come we have to wait so long if the other college sent notifications?

Hey everyone! I emailed CUNY to see if all my documents were received and they told me I should receive a decision starting mid March. I can’t wait anymore and I’m starting to get nervous!!!

I applied for transfer to Hunter for Fall 2018 (out of state student) and my portal has updated that a decision has been made and the Hunter link is there. I have not received an email yet. I only applied to Hunter, no other CUNY schools. I tried the trick of logging into the MyChoice portal, and the forgotten passwrod link was sent with my userid,and it allowed me to reset my password, and it lets me log in, but then I got the error message some others have gotten saying “I didn’t do that…”. Does anyone think this means my decision that was made by Hunter is a No?

I emailed Brooklyn admissions, and asked them about my decision. They told me that a decision has been made by the college, but my application hasn’t been distributed to their office by the CUNY UAPC. Now I just got an email from Queens College, talking about registering for Summer classes. I am so confused. Now I’m thinking maybe Brooklyn rejected me and Queens College is the one that accepted me.

@amilixza Got the same email from Queens college. Dont think it means anything. Queens was my third choice behind hunter and baruch. I wouldnt mind going there, but I dont think this had any implications.

I don’t mind going there either; Queens was my second choice. What does the hotline say for you when you call it?

My portal and hotline still has my application as under review.That’s why i think the email from queens college is just a general cuny announcement. Did anyone else receive this Queens college email today?

The hotline tells me Brooklyn made a decision, so that’s why the Queens college email threw me off, but I’m pretty sure you’re right. It’s probably just a random email they send out. Anyway, good luck!

I got a weird predicament. I got mail today from CUNY giving me a date to take the placement exam (end of February) and the letter it says that by now I should have received all my decisions. I have received all of them but Hunter. The hotline also is telling me that my application is under review. Idk what to trust regarding hunter. Also, by taking the placement the exam, am I confirming my enrollment?

@xxxx23456
The placement test is taken at the college of your first choice. Which in this case is hunter (correct me if I’m wrong). Also usually the hotline doesn’t update for a couple of weeks even though you have already received your results.
