Glad the trophy went to a fantastic dancer who hadn’t won before. :)

But I did enjoy Shawn’s dancing, as usual. Such creative choreography!

I missed tonight’s show and just found out! Actually squealed with excitement!!! I’ll have to watch tonight’s episode at some point.

Good that Monaco did not come close to stealing it again. Too bad John O’Hurley was not invited to give the trophy away as a reminder of that joke of an ending in the original version.

xiggi, I was very bitter about her win that season, but I’ve grown to really like her and respect her achievement in dance this season. But I gather from this that Melissa and Tony won. I am so happy for them–particularly for Tony! :D

Satisfying ending! Tony has really stepped up his choreography this season (his lifts have been amazing!) and it really helped Melissa win the trophy.

I think it ended well. Shawn and Derek have been terrific all season, but at the very end of the season, Melissa and Tony were just as good and it is nice to see someone win who has not won before (both Melissa AND Tony). I thought the final evening had uninspiring dances for the final three couples, and I wish their final dances were the ones on Monday night which were all excellent.

I don’t normally watch this show, but was just flipping channels when I came across a woman dancing with a single-buttoned, open-backed white top. I actually thought it was a wardrobe malfunction at first. In the next couple of minutes, I could see that the dancing “matched” the outfit. It was really raunchy. I don’t consider myself a prude, but c’mon. At one point in that dance, a woman did a handstand and split her legs and her partner purposely looked down. Three minutes of watching was enough for me.

^^^ That was Gilles. I also thought that was a bit much for my taste. That’s about the time I stopped watching!!!

So I take it that Kelly was the first of the 3 out of the contest? Shawn and Melissa were the last two standing???

I thought so too!

I could tell since at least last week if not before that they were paving the way for Melissa in lieu of Shawn. Derik’s decision to break the rules . All the talk about how neither Melissa nor her partner had won. Then I was positive last night when the judges chose Shawn’s freestyle to repeat and they allowed so much time for applause (and didn’t Carrie Ann even say something like “just take it all in”?) They were giving Shawn her moment.

Although I thought that Shawn was consistently terrific, I don’t mind Melissa winning…local girl, former DCC, great body after having a kid, seems nice.

I know–this “do a dance on the fly” stuff rarely leads to fabulous dancing…

NOW what do we do on Monday nights???

The Voice :D

I’m watching Wendy Williams, Tony’s former partner who was kicked off in week 2 of her season. She actually started crying. She feels like Tony is so nice and hasn’t been one of the “cool kid” dancers and so is just genuinely happy for him. It was sweet.

I just finished catching up on Parenthood. Not sure when I’ll have time to watch DWTS, but Wendy did show the celebration after Tony won. So many of the other dancers looked sincerely happy for him.

Now I want Louis to win. I love Louis. :)

I agree. Let’s be the anti-Vote for the Worst and start a Give Louis a Decent Partner movement.

It kind of seems like the pro dancers with the most national/international competitive accomplishments are the least successful on DWTS, with the possible exceptions of Karina and now Tony.

I just watched the finale. I have to admit that I cried real tears when Tony won. He was so ecstatic. And the affection for him on the part of the other pros was obvious.

I will spare you my rant on the scoring of the instant dances, since the right people won anyway. :D

I’ll definitely join the Get Louis a Decent Partner movement. :D

Oh, and I love Dance Center. Glad to see it back.

Consolation, I just went back and watched. I want to hear your scoring rant.

And in looking back, it occurs to me that Louis had Sabrina, and she’s a great dancer. Unfortunately, IMO, she is in the same category where haters are gonna hate – she felt like an unsympathetic ringer that season and so people didn’t vote for her.

I’m still a little shocked that Melissa and Tony won. Happy, but shocked.

Does anyone know how the instant dances factoring into the scoring? For example, if Melissa and Tony had done the worst instant dance in the history of instant dances and had received 3s, but had won the popular vote, would the instant dance have changed anything?

My personal opinion is based on DANCE Sabrina was one of the top 3.
