My D was waitlisted.
Applied test optional. 3.99 unweighted/4.3 weighted GPA. 3 APs (5-4-5) - her school doesn’t offer a lot of them. She actually had to take 2 of the 3 online. Top 5% of her class. Applied for English. ECs - dance/theatre/music - several years sustained activity & leadership in all. Also leadership in hs community service group and student government. State-level awards in writing. Submitted Arts supplements for theatre and dance.

She has several good options and is excited to move forward with them.

My son got in! Deferred from ED and he did get the financial aid letter at the end of February.

I think that was for Fall 2021. I looked for the 2022 CDS and couldn’t find it published.

D accepted! Our financial aid dates were late February, and we were never contacted for any additional documents.

Your son has awesome schools! Congrats to you! I agree with everything you said! We have a decent line up too and we’re getting him excited about his options.

What state are you from

We are from CA.

Our son did not get into UCLA or USC either. But, he’s in at UCSB and UCSD and also considering William and Mary and Pepperdine. Sadly letting go of the awesome full ride from Alabama. Alabama is underrated. It’s such a great school.

Wish him the best! I told my son- go where you will have the most fun. So much pressure on these kids- and these smart kids will excel wherever they go- so have fun.

Agreed! Wishing you the best too!

Son accepted post deferral today.

Very strong stats, ECs, multiple jobs.

Tough up/down day today in our home. :green_heart::green_heart::green_heart:

good to know, daughter on waitlist as well, lots of ivy rejections except Cornell, so that very relieving. Waitlisted in Harvard as well, but I think that is pretty much hopeless as well. But ā€œwaitlistedā€ at least mentally a bit more soothing for those kids, so rough.

his application is fantastic. It’s all those thing he has not control over that led to those unfortunate and unfair decisions. We’re in the same boat… ā€œoverrepresentedā€. Total BS.

you are so right! Now it’s all hooks. And if you don’t have them you’re screwed. No more of our money or time to Dartmouth. Where do people think finaid and interviewers and ā€œalumni networkā€ come from.

Alumni.

Legacy is a hot button topic for sure, but my legacy kid was also 100% academically qualified. I wonder if it actually hurt his chances since Dartmouth is clearly dead set on their URM/First-Gen numbers being higher than Legacy regardless of qualifications. I’m glad he’s happy with his options but Dartmouth will get no more support from our family ever.

Wow. Brutal, OMG, yes. Go Hamilton. I must say it is so helpful and consoling (though shocking) to read about those harsh experiences. Daughter got into Cornell and luckily helped to get over all other ivy rejections/waitlistings
