ah, I forgot to mention the FAFSA as one of those “moving parts” for the Class of 2024 … that damn FAFSA. Our kids have really been dealt some stuff, haven’t they? Hopefully we are sending them into the world with some grit.
Still no date announced.
I think we can rule out this week so most likely 12/14 or 12/15.
Everyone get the email about checking your portal to be sure it’s working because decisions are coming?
Yh I did
Yeah. Based on this new development and knowledge of passed years, does anyone have an idea of when they’ll release decisions? Does this change the prior prediction of 12/14 or 12/15?
Given the email, I would guess they’re coming earlier than usual. Probably not tomorrow, but maybe next Tuesday? That’s my bet anyway.
Without much basis to my opinion, yeah, I figure they’re coming out earlier than 12/14 or 12/15? Maybe even tomorrow?
Last year in the RD round, they sent a similar email exactly 2 weeks in advance of decision day. Of course, the 2 weeks isn’t applicable now. I just know how hard it is to think a notification might be coming Mon or Tue only to have to wait longer (had that scenario with a few schools last year), so I’m sharing this because I think it’s still quite possible that the original guess of next Thur or Fri still holds? Hope for you all that you hear sooner, of course!
Thanks for the info!
Any more intel on decision release date? I keep refreshing my email every 10 seconds
Haven’t heard a thing.
@nichols51 what did they do last year? Did they send an email the day before?
Another thing: I was looking at some prior year threads and there seems to be some speculation that kids who got the “missing financial documents” generic email were more likely to be admitted. My kid got it but his friend who also applied for FA did not. Very strange. Wondering if there is any credence to it? I suppose speculation at this point is not very helpful because we’ll know in a few days anyway.
My kid applied RD last year, so I’m not completely certain about everything that happened in the ED round. However, looking at last year’s ED thread on CC indicates that an announcement about date/time of decision release was made on the Dartmouth Admissions Instagram last year (IG post 2 days before actual decision release), so I’d definitely keep an eye on that. That’s not to say there won’t also be an email or a notification in the portal about date/time of release. Looks like the other Ivies that have announced dates are all Thur and Fri, so I still think that’s a good guess.
Got it. So likely an announcement on IG either tomorrow or Wednesday.
Dartmouth and Harvard are the only two Ivies that haven’t announced. They’re killin’ me.
Fortunately, my DS doesn’t seem in the least bit concerned.
I’m jealous of your son. As an applicant I am definiteley concerned.
Does anyone know if Dartmouth admits only a certain number of students from each high school? At least 5 other kids from my high school (senior class of about 500) also applied ED, and from what I know, some of my competition is pretty impressive. Does this diminish my chances?
The official answer from the admissions committee, is no, there are no school quotas or caps. So impressive competition diminishes your chances, but along with everyone else’s.
Cool, thanks for the info.
I’m having a moment of clarity, and I think we should all just be able to congratulate ourselves for even being in the position to compete for a position at a school like Dartmouth. I’m getting so caught up in the impending decision notification that I forget to celebrate and appreciate all the success and accomplishment that has led me to even consider a school like this. The same goes for you all. Good luck, and whatever happens was always meant to be.
Well said!
I posted this on a different thread: the mere fact that you are accomplished enough to even apply to a school like Dartmouth means even if you aren’t admitted, you will likely end up just as successful as people who are. There was an academic study (which I can’t seem to locate) which came to this conclusion.
The school doesn’t make these people successful. They already are.
Please keep your good attitude and hold your head high no matter what. You’ll be fine!
Best of luck to you (and everybody)!
Harvard announced for Thursday so now Dartmouth is the only Ivy that hasn’t announced.
Deep breath. Patience.
Where’d you see that?
ETA: not doubting, asking, as I’ve only seen it speculated as such but not confirmed
