I will have an interview with an alumni, and I am wondering if this is a good thing?
What do they ask?
Sorry, I am an international student and not familiar with college interviews

Thanks, and best of luck to everyone! ;-)

The interview doesn’t actually mean anything (there’s no sort of pre-screening of applications for interviews or anything) but it is a good chance to make a good impression in some way that isn’t indicated on your app. At my interview yesterday, the guy showed me what they wanted. It was 4 categories, and while I don’t remember them exactly, I know one was character, one was academic passion, and I’m fairly sure one was leadership(?).

From what I’ve heard, interviews either sort of help people or really hurt people. But just be yourself and try to give specific examples of your awesomeness! You’ll do great :)

Thank you, that helped a lot. Now I can relax and don’t have to worry about it :)

Random question, but is your ID supposed to be Mr. Spotter or Mrs. Potter? XD

^ Haha - funny how the brain works isn’t it?? :p

The first thing that would have come to anyone’s mind would obviously be mrs.potter, referring to an admiration of Harry Potter!!

I immediately thought of Mrs. Potter referring to Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby by Counting Crows haha

Haha yeah its supposed to be for harry, i mean there’s a lot to admire there lets be real. is there a date for decisions to come out that anyone knows of? :)

Did anyone else get an email notifying them of a banner systrm login? From my knowledge isn’t that only for attending students?

@bannedhero - That’s to check you application status!! :)

@mrspotter - March 28th is the common Ivy league notification date… :D

Sorry I am late to join the conversation! Do any of you know about Dartmouth sending ‘likely letters?’ I read on last year’s threads that people had heard back already about the ‘likely letters’ by this time of year. I know that they only send them to their top 1/3 of accepted students.

^^ the thread is here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/dartmouth-college/1453611-likely-letters-8.html

so we’ll know on march 28th?

Yep March 28th’s the D-Day!! :D

So how will we be notified on March 28? Through email? Will we have to log into something? etc?

Dead thread. Good sign, in a sense. >.>

@cassiebreeze - Most probably we have to log in to our applicant status page. I’m not sure though.

@philovitist - Yeah. But there’s a lot of activity on the Dartmouth International applicants thread!!
Though it’s moved away from being a Dartmouth “only” thread to an “everything” thread! :)

I guess we should start being more active on this thread, seeing as the 28th isn’t far off. :P

Guys, which colleges are you waiting to hear from except Dartmouth?

The International thread is pumping as Rishav said :P

And I do believe that we will have to log onto their portal - like with CalTech and a lot of the other universities.

MIT
UChicago
Princeton
Cornell
Duke
UPenn
Rice
Stanford

I’m still waiting to hear from Williams, Cornell, Rice, Brown, Yale, Bowdoin, Middlebury, McGill, and Northeastern.

I was accepted early to Grinnell, but now I’m freaking out because WUSTL waitlisted me. I’m really hoping that isn’t the harbinger of more bad news to come.
