@Lergmom – agree with you on the skimmers, so using our debit cards as infrequently as possible is the norm for us. Our bank’s ATM’s - especially those inside - seem to be less likely to be hit, though nothing is perfect.
Just got my first chip-enabled cc. Haven’t yet seen a chip-enabled reader.
I’m late to the party here. Tomorrow is 3/20 and my Costco Amex card will stop working on 4/1? I’ve gotten no notification from either Costco or Amex! Is this really happening?
I already have a Capital One card so I’m sure it will only confuse me to have another. Especially if they look alike. Cap One can be a bit flaky too. They pegged a fraud alert for us but sent the new cards to the wrong address. Sent D3’s card to D2 and spelled her name wrong. Charged us for some of the false charges (several liquor stores in South Africa) even though I had verified them as false on the phone with an agent. Still waiting for my new card. Oh well.
ETA - wait, I just realized I have a year left. Phew.
No, the changeover won’t be until 2016 and we will be invited to get CapitolOne MasterCards, I believe.
We’ve had CapOne visa for a few years now and been very happ . I believe you will be able to use any MCard, not only CapOne, tho they may have some special features if you choose to get a CapOne Costco MCard.
