<p>Thanks, everyone, for your ideas. I’m bookmarking all the links and will start to investigate seriously when I know more on Monday, the day that she meets with the surgeon again (it’s taken a year and a half to diagnose this). She doesn’t want to come home because she is supposed to work with a professor this summer and for some other reasons as well (I want to keep this semi-private). I’m hoping that she can put her cell phone on speaker when she is at her appointment, and we are e-mailing her a list of questions that we want her to ask the surgeon, including whether he thinks she should come home.</p>
