Daylight Savings Time 2018 ends this weekend.

Many childless adults don’t either. However, the push back has always been the little kiddos waiting for the school bus in the dark, particularly for those areas which are far west in their time zone.

Plenty, I assure you. Far fewer Canadians are spending time in the U.S. these days.

There are a very large number of people who have shift work, varying schedules, extensive travel.

If one can’t adapt to the brief transition that it takes to adjust to an hour time change without it being hazardous to their health, I honestly don’t know what to thiink. Sad that people are unable to function safely with such a trivial change. Go to bed earlier. Drink more coffee. Take melatonin.

Then again, I did observe my husband getting regular sleep when he was recently off work due to medical for about 15 months. He slept so well every night, but if he got woken up a little earlier than usual, he would be very cranky. Of course I’d be wondering why he was whining, because I had been up most the night and had gotten far less sleep, and I wasn’t complaining. Maybe that’s what retirement is like.

The sun is so bright today…sad to think it will be dark in alittle over an hour. I agree I could live with DST year round. Much prefer alittle light in the sky after work.

It’s only five months…and in another 6 weeks, the days start to get longer anyway.

I don’t love the time change because my pets don’t “get it”. I’m going to be less than thrilled to be awakened by my cat at 4 a.m.

BD: live in Anchorage in the summer months and say, New Zealand during their summer months.

Oh that is a serious negative, when the pets wake you up earlier. I would not be pleased by 4am!

Really want the extra daylight at the end of the day. I skipped my ballroom dance class on Thursday night to take one last run on a nice evening after work. Starting next week, I can’t get home in time to run when it is light. I HATE the time change in the fall. X(

I hate the time change. I wish we stick to one. I don’t care which.

@alwaysamom I think those who have switched off the US are in the Bahamas or other Caribbean Islands.

This is about human physiology not somebody’s “sad” refusal to do something. Several of our larger clients are studying this issue right now. Extensive business travel, where you have to adjust to workday hours in a new time zone right away is terrible for your health statistically. So is shift work.

Personally I love daylight savings time. But it is important for the government to consider whether it adds to the overall well being of the population as a whole or detracts from it. Individual anecdotes about coping fine or facing worse are not relevant to this calculus.

Like @intparent I thrive on outside time. I will have to hike home and be throwing my clothes off as I enter the door to put on exercise clothing to get my much needed fresh air now before dark. I have thought that I may try a little more for outside time before work (I do already walk the dog in the morning though) but I am at my desk by 7:30am so I really am not willing to back up my wake up time much more than it already is!

I will also try to have some outside time at lunch - most all summer I walked 1-2 miles at lunch - but that cannot be intense exercise and can be limited by my schedule.

I could care less about the sleep thing. The time change doesn’t bother my sleep schedule - but it does bother my mood!

We will go back on daylight savings time in just over 4 months, March 10, 2019. Hardly seems worth the bother.

It’s going to be a long 4 months.

Only 4 months! Well agree…that’s silly. Why bother.

I am assuming our cellphones will adjust automatically so it’s just a matter of changing the clocks on the stove and microwave in the kitchen. Also change the clock time in the car.

My kids leave for the bus at 6:45am. Today’s sunrise was 8:11. Needless to say, they’ve been walking in the pitch dark for a few weeks. The time change will make Monday’s sunrise at 7:12. It’ll at least be light for a bit! i don’t like all the changing, but I’ll be happy with more light in the mornings.

Was just talking to my daughter about how I don’t miss her days in high school. I would be standing outside in the cold at 6:20am looking at the moon while she waited for the bus to arrive. So glad those days are over with.

And I would say someone is just a little bit cranky, even before daylight savings time, and needs to get a good night of sleep. :open_mouth:

The clock in my car changed last week. It is an old car and didn’t get programmed for the right date.
