But also, wanted to add that my D19 is winding up her freshman year with a teacher who deducts points for excuses absences as well. Due to school play rehearsals, she missed five classes and it impacted her grade. But you know what? Meh, so what. The theater stuff makes her so happy and makes her high school experience more fulfilling, it’s no biggie. It’s important to advocate for your kid, of course, but you have to be careful not to ruffle too many feathers.
