I’m currently a junior in high school and have already started planning my DHS application.
Could anyone share what they submitted as their project for the DHS this year? I’ve heard about a lot of musical submissions. That’s currently my main idea. Original song by me on fiddle and guitar in Louisiana Creole, Cajun French, (possibly Spanish to represent the Isleños) and English (with subtitles) talking about all the reasons Tulane is great and why I belong there.
Stats are ACT: 32, GPA: 3.75, in top 5% of class, will have taken APUSH, APHG, AP Lit, and AP Spanish, perhaps AP Enrionmental at time of application. (Signed up for AP Lang next year.) Hispanic Honor Society, Varsity Lacrosse, Model UN, Latin American Coalition volunteer, volunteered as an interpreter in Honduras for missions groups two summers. I’m afraid my stats barely squeak by. I’m already aiming to get 34 on my ACT. Am I going to get brushed aside for such a low number of APs?
Tulane is my top choice right now. I think getting the DHS or similar scholarship is my only way of attending. I’m currently planning to major in International Relations and a foreign language. My other ideas are linguistic anthropology or journalism.
(This will be my first post so please excuse me if it’s in the wrong place. Thank you!)
