<p>It is true that I am conservative but I didn’t say anything about liberals being the problem. In fact if anything liberals are the westerners most willing to impose the their values. Granted those values are screwed up but at least they have them.</p>
<p>Actually, “conservative” Congresses are just as prolific-- and polarized-- as their “liberal” counterparts.</p>
<p>Do opponents of the death penalty not see a difference between taking the life of an innocent person and taking the life of someone who performed an especially vile crime?</p>
<p>I am against the death penalty no matter what…and yes I see the difference, but as a society, we shouldn’t be so primitive</p>

<p>I keep forgetting that liberals are the ones going around insisting that this is supposed to be a “Christian nation” and demanding that their denomination’s prayers be said at public events…etc., etc.</p>
<p>And liberals are the ones demanding thatchurch bell be turned off and that Catholic Hospitals distribute birth control pills and perform abortions. The secularists are hardly hesitant about imposing their values.</p>
<p>Please provide some proof to show that liberals are demanding that Catholic hospitals perform abortions. I’ve done a lot of reading about Catholic hospitals and the choice issue and never run across this. Ever. So I suspect it’s another one of your urban legends.</p>
<p>It’s true that in some states, the law requires all hospitals to distribute emergency contraception to rape victims, and that the law applies to Catholic hospitals the same as it does to other hospitals. But it seems to me the ones imposing values are the ones who want to force a woman to bear her rapists’ child, and will break state law to try to make this happen.</p>
<p>Bells? Again, please provide a source. I suspect that any objections will turn out to be about decibel levels being in violation of local ordinances, and not about religious content. Liberals value freedom of religion. </p>
<p>Since when is expecting other people to be law-abiding citizens the same as “imposing liberal values on them”? Conservatives are not above the law, despite what you may think. I know many fine, upstanding conservatives who would take umbrage at the suggestion that only liberals value the rule of law.</p>
<p>I have a very difficult time with the death penalty. As a person of reason, as I believe I am, there are some crimes and some people who should be subject to the death penalty. But as a person of reason, as I believe I am, I have to question the frequentcy of these verdicts.
It is very difficult to play God to decide who lives and who dies. I just can’t find a position pro or con here that I can support.</p>
<p>Well first of all conyat the so-called “morning after pill” prevents implantation of a fertilized egg and since catholics believe that life begins at the moment of conception it is in catholic eyes at least potentially an aborticant. So you are in fact forcing a catholic institution to not only accept but practice your secular values. It would be kind of like banning meat sales on Friday’s if the shoe were on the other foot. But then like I say liberals have absolutely no qualms about imposing and justifying the imposition on others.</p>
