******December 2015 ACT Discussion Thread******

I’m getting so frustrated…

Chat is so dead now that everyone got their scores, except us of course. I hate ACT. . .

my son has not received his writing score either. Have most people received their writing scores?

Some people haven’t even received their MC, so I wouldn’t expect more writing anytime soon.

I took SATs in November and December and I got a 530 on math both times (620 on the other sections so I’m not worried about it) and I really want to know if I should take the SAT in January but in order for me to know I have to know my ACT score.

I studied really hard for the ACT esp the math so I’m hoping for a 26-28 in all sections but I still don’t have my scores and its almost college app submission time.

I hope there is a senior privilege where they receive their scores in priority :frowning: Good luck to all of you applying for RD who haven’t gotten their scores yet.

Reply from ACT after I wrote to them that I am a senior who is applying to Jan 1st deadline schools -

We know that you are anxious to view the results of this test, our records indicate your scores have not been processed and posted online. Although we cannot determine exactly when your scores will be available, posting of scores occurs weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays and we encourage you to check back on those days.

Most scores will be posted to the website within 3 to 4 weeks after the test date, with all records resolved within 8 weeks after the test date. Scores are added on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Please go to http://www.actstudent.org/faq/answers/delay.html for reasons why scores can take up to eight weeks to process.

Please note that scores are processed in the order they are received, not necessarily by location. The fact that others in your area have received reports and you have not received yours is not uncommon. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion. Scores will be processed and posted online as quickly as possible.

If you have established an ACT web account at www.actstudent.org, you will receive an e-mail informing you that your scores are ready.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

DUDE @indiatous I GOT THAT SAME REPLY. SAME EXACT WTF

received my writing score this morning

@indiatous where did you write the test in? I wrote it in Bangalore and I haven’t received scores either.

Did anyone use any other study guide besides the official red one? My son is done with all those tests in the red book and can’t retake the same tests. He says he remembers the questions. He will need to retake the test and we have to figure out which other test booklet is good. Any suggestions would be VERY helpful! Thanks!

Also, last time my son got all 8’s and he got a 24. This time he got all 9’s and he got a 24. That doesn’t seem right

@jjmama I used to have a 26 with lower subscores, now I received 9,9,9,10 which resulted in a 24.

My son has not received his writing score either. This system does need improvement as they should be releasing scores more regularly and at the very least caution seniors that it’s a good possibility they will not get their scores before the Jan 1 deadline. My son is a junior and I had him test early so he can space the SAT, ACT, SAT subj tests and AP tests through out the year and then focus on his college apps next fall. I would never have guessed seniors would be stuck in the position of being so close to the deadline waiting for results. For those of you waiting, you should try to contact the colleges and see what each of their stance is. Some colleges we visited were adamant that they start the review process immediately after Jan 1 and the application must be complete (scores, essays, recommendations, etc.) for them to consider them. We visited 11 highly selective and selective schools. They all have their own twist so check in with them.

My son finished the red book but I had bought it in April so I assumed there was a new one out by now. There isn’t but I believe the new book is being released mid-Jan so if you can waiting until then you can get the next edition. For those reading that are sophmores or juniors, my son sat through a practice test of the SAT and ACT to figure out which one was “his test”. He took the SAT in Nov and ACT in Dec and did very well on both but what improved his performance on the SAT was understanding the differences between the two tests. I don’t know the difference but he said SAT asks the questions in a much less direct way and the ACT was much more direct. Once he understood that, his practice tests on the SAT improved significantly.

@tyronium I tested in Hyderabad.

jjmama and Nadinem123, are any of those writing results pre-Sept when the essay was different?

@paveyourpath No, both scores are after: September and December 2015

@paveyourpath Why did you think there would be a new ACT (red) Prep book in January? The 3rd edition, which is the most current, was published in 2011. They should have published a new one by now, especially because the writing section has changed, but they have not. Just wondering if you heard somewhere that they were publishing a new one.

@paveyourpath no. October and December scores with the new writing format
