***December 2015 SAT (US Only) Thread***

for the japanese passage, what was the purpose of showing Uma and them mom’s real name?

was it to show a new character development?

to show her split personality

what do you guys predict -1 with a 10 essay will be with the writing curve this time?

800

how will the reading curve be? hard or normal?

The 20-minute-long math section had zero answer ‘C’. It was really strange. Could this happen, and did you guys have the same situation?

@hiDreamer definitely possible, although they should be equal its not really the case.

Is it that the questjon asking what 2x-3 equals? Yes that can happen because 0 wasn’t the smallest answer. But it was experimental according to other people

@smileymoose
So the answer was not 0? And my question was in the 20-minute-long math section, there was no single answer ‘C’. And it was not experimental, since I did not have math experimental.

Ohh, sorry I misunderstood. Yes 0 was the answer

I remember one math question asked, "The average (arithmetic mean) of 5,n, and 25 is equal to the average of 10,n, and 20. What is the value of n?
A. 5
B. 10
C. 20
D. 30
E. More information is needed
I put more info is needed because if you plug in all of the values for n, they all work out. Any input?

@FutureTrunks
Yes, it was definitely E.
@smileymoose
Are you sure it was C, 0? I first put C then erased it…

For the question about the japenese poetry writer and her relationship with the guest, was it characterized as scholarly detachment or shared enthusiasm? My gut told me to choose scholarly detachment at first, but the passage used the word “estatic” when describing their attitudes towards working together, so I chose the answer, “shared enthusiasm”. This was tricky I thought because the passage as a whole maintained that the mother essentially detached herself from family life because of her interest in the poetry, but if you look closer at the passage, the word estatic is used to describe their attitudes towards working togehter, so I did choose shared enthusiasm for that reason. What did you guys say?

@averagewhiteguy you are correct, they shared ecstatic notes, therefore it was shared enthusiasm.

Thats a relief, I thought I read on here that somebody had said scholarly detachment, which makes sense as well, but that was probably a level 4 or 5 question because of the overall passage would suggest scholarly detachment but that small “ecstatic” detail makes it shared enthusiasm. @facsimilarecoterie

@averagewhiteguy @facsimilecoterie
I agree. I picked shared enthusiasm, since they shared the notes or sth.
There cannot be a “detachment” because she is really into those haiku thingy.

true but I think detachment was not referring to her lack of interest in the Haiku, but rather, her detachment was from her family, which was true, because as a result of her taking up that new writer name, she dedicated almost all of her time to that, and made the father and daughter take up her old house chores, so essentially she was detaching herself from the family unit in a scholarly manner.

But the question asked about the nature of the relationship between her and the guest, the scholarly detachment would be for the mother and her family, thus not answering the question. So it would have to be shared enthusiasm, which is what we all wrote it seems.

guys is this CR harder than that of the october test

Does anyone remember the 20-minute-long math section not having any 'C’s? It was really weird. Is it just me?
