On the “Check Credentials” part of the application website it says that the checking credentials option will return on December 14 for regular applicants. Could that possibly mean that they will be updating the website that day with… decisions!?

Last year they sent the decisions via email so your theory is unlikely. Also, that is way too early for them.

Unfortunately it doesn’ t mean that. We got an e-mail from our dean this morning about updates on the server which means that some of the websites and services we use will not be available until whatever date was given, either the 18 or the 14.

they won’t be emailing the decisions this year, though. they’ll email you to check the site, which will give you the decision.

This year they will email applicants a notification that a decision has been made and the decision itself will be available on the uncommon application site after you log in. See [Chicago’s Uncommon Application: Decisions - how, when, where?](Chicago's Uncommon Application: Decisions - how, when, where?) for details.

I’m hoping the decisions won’t be too late this year, who knows…

Although there’s no way of finding out for sure, I think that the OP is right in assuming that the server shutdown has something to do with decisions. “After dec. 14” is Dec. 15th, which is probably their goal date.

when did EA applicants find out in past years?

-From the blog as of this afternoon.

I can imagine that you will get decisions on or before December 14th. Why? Because deferred applicants would be able to check their credentials on December 14th, meaning that you either got rejected or accepted if you cannot access your credentials. And as a very small percentage will actually be rejected, this is quite indicative of your decision.

I noticed one more thing that might explain why we would get decisions sooner than we originally thought b/c of the huge increase in applications: in the tribune article posted on another post, O’Neill mentioned something about a recent increase in the admissions office staff. maybe they were prepared for such an increase, and will release decisions earlier since more people are reading them?

Decisions must be coming out on the 14th, then. Aren’t the Ivies releasing decisions at 5pm or something? Maybe UChicago will do something similar, though Chicago doing something like the Ivies makes me a little unhappy.

dude …they have computesr that know who is an rd applicant and who is an ea applicant…al the computers will do is open the accounts up for those applicants…nowhere there does it say that dec. 14 is for deffered applicants.

But we’d still like to think so.

beefs: Deferred EA applicants are automatically considered RA applicants.

Oh, thanks, phuriku.

ahhhh, I am so nervous, i just want to get my decision!!!

I don’t think we can assume we’ll get our decisions by the 14th or even 15th. It says credentials will be open again AFTER the 14th. That could be days after.

…Yuck :-p

Application Credential Checking is currently closed. Early Action applicants who continue to have questions regarding their application documents should call the College Admissions Office at (773) 702-8650. Credential Checking will reopen for Regular Notification applicants on January 22. Thank you.

so, this can’t be a bad news

just so you guys know, last year they came out on the 16th. i checked last year’s blog
