<p>Iowa City…Iowa : ) No, I do not go cowtipping in the weekends, hahah. But other than the university and hospitals…and one mall, there isn’t much to do, really.</p>
<p>Flute=crazy everywhere…and very much so from mich because the professor’s really good…it would be sooooo amazing if we both got in!! I think they accept any number from 0-5 a year or something depending on graduating people and stuff…</p>

<p>HoD: ewwww. maybe it was because our book was a small copy, but there were some paragraphs that were over a page long. and they were usually just commentary on like ONE tree on the bank of the river or something. </p>
<p>we even watched the Apocalypse movie thing…which, IMO, only marginally better than the book.</p>
<p>I visited in november… it had one of the nicest campus of all the colleges i visited… it really made me want to go their… which was confirmed during my alum interview</p>

<p>Are you kidding? Apocalypse Now is one of the greatest American pictures of the last thirty years. It’s such a searing, dark look at human nature. The movie begins with a jingoistic, “patriotic”, look at the military and war, and ends with some of the most brutal condemnations of warfare ever put to the screen.</p>
<p>It’s stunningly brilliant.</p>
<p>I agree w/ strife that HoD is a great story. As I was reading it, I thought it was a worthless piece of **** story, but when I finished, I actually started to grasp some of its meaning and revised my opinion.</p>
<p>And yes, As I Lay Dying is a stupid book, IMO.</p>
<p>As for Portrait of the Artist…that’s the book I’m currently doing, and it’s not looking good so far.</p>

<p>i was since i got into honors but im sorta backing out since tuition is basically the same as a private and they have crap financial aid, it seems like a cool place but many schools are too, campus was nice thouhg and a2 seems great</p>
<p>kansas, I think the movie was just a little slow…the whole war stuff didn’t quite interest me - some scenes were really well done, but most of it didn’t add much. of course this is looking at this from the whole post-existentialism-unit viewpoint so it’s a little skewed ; ) but ehhh…</p>
<p>Portrait really varies over the course of the novel, I think. I gained a lot of appreciation for some of the finer details when I was finding quotes for my essay on imagery. The water and bird imagery is truly stunning.</p>
<p>So where are people getting the 10:00 PM time from? Because when I searched the 2008 forum, people reported 6:37-ish on 3/25…</p>
<p>Perhaps also worth mentioning… at the bottom of the CC page it says “All times are GMT -7” So… if the 2008 thread said 6:37, what does that convert to for those of us on the west coast?</p>

<p>agree mross…i got barely anyting for financial aid, plus they <em>mistakenly</em> doubled by EFC (How do u make such a stupid mistake) a couple days ago, so i called yesterday and they are “readjusting” my package…but def. agree about the tution thing. if u can get the same plus a couple more thousand at a private elite…that’s good. althgouh UM is at the same level as those. A2 is a nice city…i LOVE UM’s campus…but i think the proximity to home works against me…i kidna wanna get away and it’s only 40 min away.</p>
