Invisibleorange - if that’s the only reason stopping you from enrolling, think again. I don’t want to make you feel like I’m pushing my beliefs on you, but what you said is not at all true! I personally am very against drinking (very unlike the German heritage in me), and I don’t find it to be a problem to me at all. True, the drinking scene can be a bit of a turn-off, but this is a problem at 90% of the colleges - Pomona’s rep is actually worse between CMC/Pomona. North Quad is not full of drunks - in fact, I’ve never wandered into anyone who seems the least bit intoxicated during daylight hours. There are still social mixers and events that are dry, and you can go to parties + not drink. College is what you make of it.
As someone who is very uptight about grades and classes, I can’t emphasize enough how I DON’T regret coming to CMC at all. I cannot imagine having a better learning experience - everyone knows each other’s names, even the cleaning ladies + cafeteria staff.
And it’s not any easier to transfer within the Claremonts, or at least that’s what the admissions say.
If you have any lingering questions, don’t hesitate to message me!
