Decisions..what would you do?

Jdjaguar - I was extolling the merits of Dartmouth for you on another thread, and I’m delighted to see that the weekend went so well. Recruited to play football on autumn afternoons at Dartmouth - your son is living my fantasy life.

gadad

S committed to Dartmouth this a.m.

I am so proud of his decision and would like to thank everybodys
input on this and other threads.

regards to all.

Hmom… absolutely agree on that little town with the Big Green. It is really something too special to describe.

Moda, fingers crossed for your DS. There are many amazing colleges and campuses and I hope he finds one he loves equally.

merit scholarships + Honors

congrats, jdjaguar! Now you can tell your boy to roll up his sleeves and look for outside merit $$ for smart athletes, like this one:

Congrats, jdjaguar!

thanks consol.

I feel a little bad for the coaches at the other schools, though.

I know I shouldn’t…cause they would drop S in a heartbeat if they thought they
had found someone better…just natural I guess.

bottom line is Dartmouth offered, and S liked Buddy and the school.

first in my family to go to the Ivies…he is a bit apprehensive about that, lol.

His Brother already wants to schedule a visit to go skiing and buy a sweatshirt!

"Greetings from Dartmouth! The Admissions Office has received your completed
application to Dartmouth, and I am writing to confirm that you are a “likely”
candidate for admission to the College as a Regular Decision applicant. You’ll
soon receive a more formal “likely letter” from Dean of Admissions and Financial
Aid Maria Laskaris, but we wanted to be sure that you received word of your
status as soon as possible. Your official admissions decision will arrive when
all Regular Decision letters are mailed in late March. The purpose of this
message is to be clear about your status at Dartmouth as you consider your
college options for next year.

Let me take this opportunity to say how pleased we are that you may choose to
become a Dartmouth student. The members of the Admissions Committee are
impressed by your accomplishments, and we believe that Dartmouth is an excellent
match for your interests."

thanks all and god bless.

sooooo many students are going to be sooooo envious of your DS. Congratulations once again!

thanks menlo…but S is worthy of Dartmouth, apart from football,

and Dartmouth knows it.

Nothing like the smell of a likely letter in the early morning…

^^^lol!!! Yes, receiving such a letter would put a smile on many faces!

kind of like reading a love note from the cutest guy at school. That never happened to me, but if it had, I mean…

Option 3 is perfect: built his character strong:

jdjaguar, my sincere congrats to your son. Dartmouth will provide him with wonderful opportunities in the classroom, on the field and with his friends.

You said that you do feel for the other football coaches. You could ask your son to pen a note to those coaches. I read recently that one of the top D-1 recruits in the nation did that, because he wanted to thank those colleges for expressing interest in him and that he was flattered by their interest. I was so taken by the story that I have told my son that he should do something similar when he makes his college decision in late April. He might not be an athlete, but many schools have invented a lot of time (and money) in trying to get him to be their student. A couple of schools even flew him to their campus. The hardest thing is to say, thanks, but no thanks.

Congrats to your son!!! Our family’s best friends come from a long line of Dartmouth attendees. I have been wearing a Dartmouth sweatshirt (Christmas gifts from long ago) since I was 10 (and I’m not anymore). I always felt so special when I put it on…(alas…my kids were interested in the city.) He will love it there!!!

Well, as far as the sweatshirt is concerned, you can order those online, here: [Welcome to dartmouthcoop.com: Dartmouth College Clothing, Merchandise](http://www.dartmouthcoop.com/)
