@houseoflondon no offense, but when your treated the way we were at school we are 99% sure we all should have gotten in to, I think we have a right to be petty and bitter.

Agreed. I don’t think that post sounds bitter at all, just stating the facts. Obviously, many well qualified students didn’t get in, were waitlisted, calls were ignored by admissions, and others did not get decisions until mid April (assume all have heard by now). It’s just goes to show that they were unprepared this year for the amt of apps they received. In the end, it only detracts from their reputation.

I called the New Jersey admissions officer today directly, and it was a very interesting conversation. At one point in the convo I said my stats to him and there was about a 3-4 seconds of silence and then an ‘oh wow’ (non sarcastically) muttered under his breath. They then ran around in circles from there. oh well. They know they screwed up. The only way they can fix it is if they accept all of the people who were wrongfully put on the waitlist!

Jets, amazing situation with Syracuse, and interesting story about the NJ adcom. I ran into another parent during my ride (by train) into work this morning whose daughter heard “waitlisted” very late from SU. Like my D, the “decision” from SU came so late that the school was aleady off their radar. My D paid her enrollment at UMD-CP Monday. It was tough for her to decide. She got into the Scholars program, and already knows the dorm she’ll be in. We are thrilled with her decision – did you decide to go there too? I would think proximity to the news outlets in DC would be a big advantage for you come time for internships.

Guess what? I literally just got off the phone with an admissions officer. He called my house to let me know that I have been accepted to the University. CAS with intentions of transfering to Newhouse. I’m kinda confused now.

Jets, SOOooo glad you were persistent and got in at least (even if the decision led to more confusion). Congratulations!!!

@Jetsnynj let the details flow!!! Will you be given financial aid? Did they accept their error on this matter?

I am happy for you, eventhough it took this long. Now, the big question, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

I dont find out about financial aid for another few days. Ill post those details when I get them. I will most likely be taking a trip up there in the next few weeks to see what I can work out with the school. I deposited in UMD-CP on friday, so I really have to figure out what I’m gonna do. I really think they realized their mistake, and the personal phone call was a very nice touch. I will keep all of you updated, don’t worry. : )

SU left me a voice message on my phone 3 pm today.
Them i just called him back; he said I have been sucessfully accepted by SU in Engineering. Furhtemrore, he said that I will receive my official notification of my admission Wednesday morning via email.

You will have to pay the $850 Advanced Tuition and Housing Payment within 10 days from Wednesday.

Just got my financial aid package (if we even want to call it that), a work study of about 3500 and a few loans… : / guess its time to play some more hardball with the university.

Jetsnynj, they sent u financial aid package or u call them for it?

Haha,I like SU baskteball’ s team too!

they sent it to me about 2 hours ago. I called to ask a few questions and it appeared in my inbox a few minutes later.

My son got a call and email yesterday from SU. He called them back today and is accepted into Newhouse. Financial aid package to arrive in a few days. He is thrilled but I can’t get excited until I see the package. I just sent in the deposit for the 2 day orientation at UConn the day before this call. Will just have to wait and see.
