When declaring a major on the USC supplement, do the admissions officers require a higher level high school curriculum relating to that major? I haven’t taken honors Chem or Bio but I’m currently in APES. I got A+'s both semester in Chem. I’m really interested in studying biochemistry. My Chemistry teacher last year had us do presentations on daily situations that involve chemical reactions. I did my project on migraine medicine and how it interacts with the body to reduce migraine stress. That project really inspired me to study pharmaceuticals and I’ve been extremely curious about the TAP program at USC and becoming a pharmacist. I also loved studying Chemistry and my teacher inspired me. I doubt I would have had the same experience with the honors/AP teacher.

I’ve never considered myself a science person and I’m nervous that my lack of core honors or AP science classes will hinder any admission into a science major. I mostly take AP in history and english so I was thinking of applying to a humanities or social science major and switching if I’m admitted.

Also for my senior year schedule, should I take AP Chem or AP Physics? I’m eager to take college level Chemistry but I’m nervous that admissions officers will look down on an absence of Physics in my high school career.
