<p>I would definitely remove the wallpaper and not paint over it. If the toilet is working, I’d keep it. </p>
<p>If you do replace it–here’s an off-the-wall suggestion–instead of trying to figure out what color porcelain, you could get a toilet that isn’t porcelain, e.g., stainless steel. It may be too contemporary, but it certainly would be different. </p>
<p>People who see it will ask if you’ve spent time in “the joint”. I’ve got a very contemporary house and have one in a half bath–so I’ve heard all the comments. Here’s an example:</p>
