Hi guys.

I am a Pton’16 Intl who was deferred and got in RD last year. First of all, words fail to express my gratitude to and love of Princeton-I feel that it is a place that is so conducive and give you unimaginable help in every way so that everyone can develop into the person they are meant to be deep down. There is the fabulous McGraw tutoring for all first-year courses so if you are stuck on a particular subject but would like to do more of it (like for me I want to do more science but did horribly in physics in high school) you are not doomed early. I find that my mental speed, knowledge retention have increased about 3-5 times literally, and have found interest in 5 new fields. Princeton takes great care of its students in every possible way, with academics, personal/social support, research opportunities, extracurricular passions, hobbies, and career services-it is no coincidence that we have the highest-earning alums or the most donating/loyal alums. I love this place with all my heart and soul and want to play its Alma mater “Old Nassau” at my wedding. seriously.

(I’m not a ■■■■■-if you look at my posts you may see that I asked some questions about flunking IB this summer-I had serious personal troubles that made me unable to focus at all. Luckily I passed with an above average score and had been able to take all the classes I wanted to take.) note: most of the prereqs are not strictly enforced.

Now onto deferred advice: I feel for you guys, I really, really, really do. I was heartbroken last year this time too. My guidance counselor called admissions to advocate for me but I’m not sure if this helped. Other than that I didn’t send in any update (my gc suggested writing a letter of interest and I finished writing it but decided against sending it in last minute-just didn’t feel right). I would suggest a letter of interest only if you feel your essays are horrible or are too incompatible with Princeton’s vibe.

Just have faith, and work hard. In the end Princeton is the only HYPSM school that accepted me and it turned out for the best. I couldn’t be happier or more at home anywhere else as I discovered the greatness of Princeton these last 4 months. If Princeton is really the place for you, you really need it, and you’ve shown it in your app, they’ll eventually take you :)

Best of luck deferred class of 2017!

Love,
Proud Princetonian '16
