@rstdane1 they are giving priority to those who listed CLA as a first or 2nd choice. He can probably formally request a switch to CLA as first choice, but then he would give up his chance to be admitted to CBS altogether. Since you said earlier that he has other options, he might just want to “go for it” with CBS. It’s been an increasingly difficult college to be admitted to; however, as his ACT is above the 75th percentile he stands a fair chance. Fingers crossed for him.
Totally understand the frustration that the time commitment to HS athletics should count. Most likely it did, just not as much as GPA/class rank, course load and test scores. Those checking the Communication Center on their MyU account are noticing that UMN handed out some “strong deferred” designations. Perhaps your son is one - has he checked his MyU?
