Yea, I was always somewhat ambivalent about different CCs, but the great experiences I’ve had with AmEx and my Charles Schwab cards have made me MUCH more loyal to these companies. I like companies that keep my stress level down and do what they promise in helping the consumer. That’s another reason I love Costco! I don’t care if they ARE a big box, they work with their customers, unlike a lot of other places. :)

Visa does the same extended warranty also… i’m not sure about mastercard. You can actually send them copies of your warranties when you buy things and they will keep it on file for you, that way if you have any issues they already have your paperwork. I don’t send them anything unless I need it though.

I prefer buying from Costco, so they save the proof of purchase info on their computer & if I need the POP from them, they’ll print me a copy that I can scan & email to AmEx as needed. You have to check with the specific CC to be sure that the particular card DOES provide the protection you expect–what each specific CC offers can change over time & depending on what the issuer (e.g. Citi, Chase, other institution) offers and will provide to cardholders. I am sure they must be paying something for these extras as an attraction to cardholders. I know I have gotten notices from various CCs about them changing what they cover.

I agree! It’s too bad they gave up reliability for speed and more, but then again, I suppose they make more money that way.

I don’t know what mine would think if I suggested they take a desktop instead. We’ll mull it over. It’s a reasonable idea.

How true! And I wish…

A desktop w/o a netbook is not as useful for college. The netbook allows for them to take it to study groups and class while being light and mostly fairly reasonable priced. The price of desktop + netbook was less than laptop alone for both S & D. Both my kids would not want JUST a netbook or JUST a desktop.

“Look at all the good press AmEx is getting here because of their quality of service and treatment of customers. The computer manufacturers could learn a thing or two from it.”

They should also take a look at the Longchamp thread

We’ve had Sony laptops… Not anymore.
