Dang Modacke I am in the exact same situation as you. I applied to CAS with a declared major of computer science and I also applied to Poly, but due to Poly’s location and less than stellar reputation I would prefer to go to NYU CAS. Plus, if I am not 100% sure I wanted to major in comp sci for CAS I could always switch my major or get a liberal arts minor.

The thing is my grades are definitely good enough to get into CAS and I feel I would have got in with another declared major. In reality, I got waitlisted by CAS and have not heard back from Poly yet. Now I am kinda of relived that I also put consideration for Stern and other CAS majors so, I don’t get send to Poly.

It’s not that Poly is a bad school, it is just the location is not in the middle of city life like that Manhattan chapter. And really if you are going to NYU, you want the full experience the city and all, and Brooklyn is definitely not the city. Plus , I feel Poly has low standards ( just my observation) because all of my classmates(even the ones with less than Stellar Grades) who applied earlier in the year (DEC-JAN) got acceptances within 3 weeks.
