Early 30s?
When did you graduate from the Ivy League school? 10 years ago? And somebody reported you cheated on a final exam 10 years ago and they revoked your degree? Or did they ask you first, and you said (ala George Washington), “I cannot tell a lie, I did cheat on that exam”… Why didn’t you pull a Bill Clinton, and say, " I… did … NOT… cheat… on… that… exam!" ?

Isn’t there a statute of limitations on this type of thing?

I meant “graduates from college in their early 30s”, since I think I might have to take some time off between now and reapplication to reflect and get a solid footing on things.

One of the biggest challenges that you are going to have is how are you going to pay for your return to school (highly unlikely that you are going to be eligible for financial aid). Also even if the degree has been revoked, you will still have to submit transcripts from the school.

When you spoke with the academic dean(s) what did they tell you that your options were? Did you appeal the decision?

I’m not buying any of this (and agree with madbean’s observations). This person allegedly graduated perhaps 8-10 years ago but “just recently” had his degree revoked (based on hearsay evidence, no less)…and now, because of one incident, is going to start ALL OVER at another four-year college, in his 30s? In what world is this a viable solution for someone who claims to have done “fine” at an Ivy League institution and presumably has four years’ worth of that education under his belt?

OP…how long ago did you graduate from this college? When was your degree revoked? Please clarify these questions…otherwise your story does not make much sense. Are you saying that recently someone reported cheating that took place on ONE exam many years ago…and with no questions asked, your degree was revoked?

If, as you say, “many college counselors” couldn’t help you, I doubt anyone here will. What you need is expert advice from a source that matters. Make an appointment with an admissions counselor at any school that interests you. If necessary, they can contact your previous college for details that will be pertinent to your admission/standing. That’s whose opinion matters here, not ours.

Chaos, actually the thing that was NOT smart was CHEATING. Most colleges have a mighty strict policy about this. However, there is always an appeal process, and evidence must be presented to support the claim. Just hearing about this from other students might trigger an investigation, but that in and of itself would not cause the degree to be revoked. If this degree was revoked, there is MUCH more to this story than just other students telling.

If you KNEW something was coming along that would prevent you from getting a job, why would you QUIT your job for this reason? That makes no sense… At all.

“I included the detail about Ivy League because I think it might help me with the readmission process. It doesn’t make what I did less wrong, but I hope the credits that I did earn there can help me open more doors.”

This is what screams ■■■■■, because the only people who think that the Ivy Leagues magically open doors that are closed elsewhere, or that people gasp with hushed intakes of breath when they see YOU WENT TO AN IVY LEAGUE, are prestige-obsessed, unsophisticated high school seniors. By the time you allegedly went to your school and went through your 4 years there, you would have figured out that it’s a college just like any other and that other people realize you put your pants legs on one at a time just like everyone else, and no, people don’t gasp and move out of the way when they see you coming.

I was going to point out a few other things the OP said that prove it’s a ■■■■■ but I decided not to give clues on how to write better fake posts.

I didn’t even know this would be possible so many years after the fact. And based on hearsay? It’s almost like getting a post-humous divorce because of a rumor of infidelity.

I seriously think one ■■■■■ poster is just posting multiple threads on CC in the last month or so. Some are well written, most controversial, first time poster or having posted maybe 9 or 10 posts to make it look legit. I believe there are at least 4 fake posts up right now that peope are responing to.
