I’m trying to get that “updated form” issue clarified with my CPA. I don’t see that anywhere either.
I have contacted 3 schools so far. 1 school said they know of the issue already! YAY! That FA office said that they heard the 3115 would be ready on March 15th (crossing fingers) and to get 2014 Returns to them AS SOON AS the form is out and can be used. So glad that I reached someone who already knows of the problem. I would imagine, in coming weeks, more schools will know about the issue.
We hit this a few years ago when another form wasn’t ready. Schools were very helpful. We still had to file the FAFSSA using estimated tax returns, but they agreed that copies of the signed tax returns couldn’t be submitted while the IRS form was still pending. It was something a number of families hit.
Thanks. When I called one school, they said every year there seems to be a form that holds up filing taxes. Everything else is in, CSS Profile in October and FAFSA in early January. I feel much better after speaking to FA reps at 5 schools yesterday. They’ve been there, done that.
