My children did not go to Delbarton so please take this as an unbiased opinion. Without a doubt, academically Delbarton and Lawrenceville are the finest private schools in NJ, and among the finest in the country. Obviously they are quite different socially and athletically so you would have to choose which would be better for you. If you were a boy and Catholic I cannot imagine passing up an opportunity to go to Delbarton.
BTW, don’t worry about the lack of girls - everyone in central Jersey knows that the boys of Delbarton do very well for themselves in that department.

d’yer maker, what town did u live in? i live in cranford

Many of my friends from Delbarton lived in Maplewood, South Orange, Millburn, Summit and Scotch Plains. I think one student was from Cranford and he commuted for a couple years and boarded for the last two (I think because his family moved, though this is ages ago). I’m an old fart and know little about practical things, such as how the buses run, but I’d guess there’d be a bus route that covered that corridor and someone from Cranford would, I think, be within the zone for bus service, though you might plan on being the first stop in the morning and last stop in the afternoon. By first thing in the morning, I’m saying that you might be getting on the bus at 6:30 a.m. or earlier. Don’t hold me to that, but I think it’s very feasible but it won’t be quite the same as your public school commute (let alone a boarding school experience).

but what town did u come from

sorry i haven’t been on in a while.
i want u to know that i got in to Delbarton (about a 20% acceptance rate)
i will be attending this fall.

Congratulations! And best of luck to you in the coming school year! :)

Excellent! Please work very hard to make the Delbarton name more marketable. I enjoy resting on the laurels of those who have followed behind!

can someone share their thoughts on Seton Hall vs. Oratory Prep for high school please??? don’t know where to send our son! Help!

delbarton undoubtedly the best private school in the state. top notch academics, athletics, debate, and art programs. college placement is among the best.
